Child labor was the employment of children at regular and sustained labor.

Until the later half of the 9th Century of God, there had been no real laws concerning child labor on the world of Safehold. This was mostly due to the fact that until that time most Safeholdians lived in agricultural societies. With the beginning of the Industrial Age, children became increasingly employed in industry, mostly because they would not unionize, were easily replaced, and generally obedient to supervisors.

In the Year of God 893, the Kingdom of Charis brought into effect the first child labor laws on Safehold. Prior to this, industrialist Ehdwyrd Howsmyn had already instituted his own labor policies. (BSRA)
