Cody Cortazar was an Adam, one of the original colonists whose memories were altered before they awoke on Safehold on the Day of Creation.
Pre-Operation Ark[]
Prior to his participation in Operation Ark, Cortazar was a Sergeant Major in the Terran Federation Marine Corps. In that capacity, he spent fifteen years as an unarmed and close combat instructor, was twice the first runner up in the Fleet moarte subita competition, and was a championship fencer. (HFQ)
Early Time on Safehold[]
Cortazar and his wife Sandra lived in the Zion Enclave, though Sandra was killed less than three years later by a slash lizard. (HFQ)
Time as a Seijin[]
During the War Against the Fallen, Cortazar's original memories were partially restored when he was made a seijin. In the role of a seijin, specifically Seijin Kohdy, Cortazar would serve on the side of the survivors of the Operation Ark command crew until his death at their hands. With his death, he was expunged from the records of the Church of God Awaiting and he became the basis for the legendary folk character[1]. (HFQ)
