Explosive shells from 1850 Japan

The explosive shell was a type of cannon amunition that exploded on impact on the target it was shot at, or shortly thereafter.

They were a thin walled, hollow, elongated cylinder filled with gunpowder and fired out of a cannon which had a fuse that when fired started ticking down and eventually exploded, especially after penetrating deep into the enemy barrier.

Ahlfryd Hyndryk, Baron Seamount and the engineers of the Empire of Charis began to develop explosive shells around the Year of God 893, with some "inspiration" from the seijin Merlin Athrawes.

They were used to devastating effect in the battle of the Gulf of Tarot. (AMF)
