King Rahnyld V of the House of Bahrns was the monarch of the Kingdom of Dohlar from the Year of God 899 onward.
He was the son of King Rahnyld IV and Queen Mother Mathylda, and the brother of Princess Stefyny and Princess Rahnyldah. (TFT)
When his father was forced to abdicate after the Earl Thirsk's coup in the late Year of God 898, teenage Rahnyld V succeeded him, with Thirsk serving as his First Councilor and regent until he came of age in the Year of God 903.[1] He was believed by many to be a promising monarch and an improvement on his father. Once he ascended to the throne, he and Thirsk, continuing to act as his First Councilor, shaped Dohlar's tax policy to favor investment, abolished King Rahnyld IV's punitive import and export duties, and adopted Charisian patent and licensing law, acts that turned Dohlar into a natural magnet for Charisian investors and strongly encouraged domestic Dohlaran innovation.
In May of the Year of God 907, he became the first Dohlaran monarch to visit the city of Tellesberg and the Empire of Charis, making the state visit with Princess Rahnyldah and Earl Thirsk.
Later in October of Year of God 907, he welcomed Emperor Cayleb and Empress Sharleyan for the first formal visit by Charisian monarchs to Dohlar for the state funeral of Earl Thirsk. While Cayleb and Sharleyan were in the Kingdom, Rahnyld proposed sending the Earl's grandchildren and his sister Rahnyldah to Charis for their educations and the prospect of Dohlar replacing the Republic of Siddarmark in the partnership to construct the Silkiah Canal.
