The Rottweiler class was a class of ironclads constructed and operated by the Imperial Charisian Navy.
Design[]
The brainchild of High Admiral Bryahn Lock Island (and named for his pet Rottweiler, Keelhaul), the Rottweilers were originally designed as 190 foot long, 90-gun ships of the line. After the introduction of exploding shells rendered unarmored galleons obsolete, the were redesigned, the upper two gun decks were removed (razeed), reducing its broadside to fifteen guns. However, it was equipped with thirty new 6-inch rifled guns, allowing greater accuracy at longer ranges. The weight saved by shaving off the upper gun decks allowed the Rottweilers to be armored with three inches of steel, backed by three feet of Charisian Teak. (LAMA)
