The Royal Patent Office was located in Tellesberg, capital of the Kingdom of Charis, housed in a building which belonged to Baron Ironhill's ministry. It was responsible for registering new ideas and techniques, and giving the people who came up with them effective ownership of them and require others to pay them for using them.

The Director of the Office of Patents, as of the Year of God 895, was Father Paityr Wylsynn.

It was protected by a low wall around it which was patrolled, night and day, by rifle-armed Marines. (BSRA)
