A writ of succession was a document authorizing and announcing the succession of a Safeholdian monarch or Church official.

In the Year of God 892, the Kingdom of Charis sent writs of succession naming Cayleb II the new king of Charis and Maikel Staynair as the new Archbishop of Charis to Zion, along with a letter announcing the Schism and the creation of the Church of Charis. (BSRA)
